If you’ve ever tried to read a Calendrz availability link out loud on a phone call, or squeeze one onto a business card, you already know the problem. Opaque 128-character hashes are great for security through obscurity, but they’re miserable to share with another human being.
Today we’re shipping two changes to fix that.
Short availability links
Every share-availability URL is now in the form:
app.calendrz.com/avail/xxxxxxxxxx
That’s a ten-character handle — short enough to type, easy to paste into a calendar invite, and no longer leaking the old /api/availability/public/… path structure. The new handles are generated from a large enough keyspace to cover well beyond a hundred million unique pages, so we’re set for the foreseeable future.
We migrated every existing link for you: there’s nothing you need to do, but the old long URLs no longer resolve. If you printed one on something, now’s a good time to refresh it — or skip ahead and claim a vanity URL instead.
Vanity URLs
This is the bigger change: a personalized availability URL of the form
app.calendrz.com/~yourhandle
Pick any handle you like, up to 32 characters, using lowercase letters, digits, hyphens, and underscores. A three-character minimum keeps the URLs from being ambiguous, and we reserve a small list of system words (admin, api, help, and the like) so nothing gets confusing.
One thing to know going in: once set, a vanity URL cannot be changed. This is intentional. Vanity URLs end up printed on business cards and stamped into email signatures — having someone else’s former handle suddenly forward to your availability would defeat the point. We’ll ask you to confirm before we commit, and that’s the only click where you really need to slow down.
Everything else about the availability page stays identical. The page is public (no login required), it shows your next seven days of free slots, and it’s strictly view-only — no bookings, no inbox surprises. Just a clean, shareable snapshot of when you’re free.
Pricing
Vanity URLs are an add-on, priced independently from your Calendrz subscription:
- $1 / month, or
- $10 / year — effectively two months free.
The add-on is available to anyone on the Basic, Plus, Pro, or Ultimate tiers — i.e. any tier that already includes availability sharing. It’s not available on the Free tier, because availability sharing itself isn’t.
If you cancel the add-on later, your current period runs to its normal end. We keep your handle reserved for you — so if you ever resubscribe, you won’t find someone else has walked away with it.
How to set yours up
- Sign in to app.calendrz.com.
- Open the Share Availability section on your dashboard. You’ll find the new Vanity URL card just below your shareable link.
- Pick monthly or yearly, click Claim your vanity URL, and complete checkout in Stripe.
- Back in the app, type the handle you want. We’ll check it’s valid and available as you type.
- Confirm, and you’re done. Your new vanity URL is live immediately.
Two small, focused changes — but taken together, they turn availability sharing from a technical capability into something you can actually print on a business card. We hope you enjoy it.
As always, questions and feedback are welcome at liv@calendrz.com.
