We’re excited to announce a new feature that gives you more control over how your Calendrz markers appear in your destination calendars: Marker Visibility Settings. You can now choose whether your time-blocking markers are visible to others or kept private — directly from your Mirroring Preferences.
What Are Markers?
When you connect multiple calendar accounts to Calendrz, the platform automatically creates markers — time-blocking events in your destination calendars that reflect your commitments from other accounts. These markers prevent double-bookings and help colleagues see when you’re unavailable, without exposing the details of events from your other calendars.
Until now, all markers were created with a fixed visibility setting. With this update, you can decide exactly how those markers appear to others.
Public vs Private: What’s the Difference?
Calendar providers like Google Calendar and Microsoft Outlook support event visibility settings that control what other people can see when they look at your calendar. Here’s how each option affects your markers:
Public Markers
- Other people who have access to your calendar can see the marker’s title, time, and details.
- This is useful when you want colleagues to understand why you’re blocked — for example, seeing “calendrz.com hold for user@company.com” tells them you have a commitment on another calendar.
- Ideal for transparent, collaborative work environments where shared visibility helps with scheduling.
Private Markers
- Other people who have access to your calendar can see that the time is blocked, but they cannot see the title or details of the marker.
- The time slot simply appears as “Busy” or “Private” depending on your calendar provider.
- This is perfect when you want to protect your privacy — for instance, if you’re blocking time for a personal appointment or a meeting on a different work account that shouldn’t be visible to certain colleagues.
- Ideal for consultants, freelancers, or anyone managing multiple clients where confidentiality matters.
When Should You Use Each Setting?
Here are a few scenarios to help you decide:
- You work in a single company with multiple calendar accounts (e.g., a team calendar and a personal work calendar): Public markers make sense so your team can see the context of your blocks.
- You’re a freelancer juggling multiple clients: Private markers ensure that Client A can’t see the details of your commitments with Client B — they just see you’re unavailable.
- You sync personal and work calendars: Private markers keep your personal appointments hidden from coworkers while still blocking the time.
- You’re an executive assistant managing someone’s schedule: Public markers help the whole team understand the executive’s availability context.
How to Change Your Marker Visibility
Changing this setting is simple:
- Log in to your Calendrz account at app.calendrz.com.
- Navigate to the Mirroring Preferences section on your dashboard.
- Look for the “Marker visibility in destination calendars” dropdown.
- Choose Public or Private.
- Click Save Preferences.
The change will take effect on the next sync cycle. Existing markers in your calendars will be updated to reflect your new visibility preference automatically.
Also Available via AI Assistants
If you use Calendrz through our MCP integration with Claude.ai or ChatGPT, you can also view and change your marker visibility through natural conversation. Simply ask your AI assistant to check or update your mirror preferences, and it will handle the rest.
Which Tiers Support This Feature?
Marker visibility control is available on the following subscription tiers:
- BASIC — Included
- PLUS — Included

Users on the FREE tier will continue to have markers created with the default visibility setting. To unlock this feature, simply upgrade your plan — you can start with a free trial of any paid tier to see if it fits your needs.
